Scam Buster is a single-player, browser-based detective revenge game where you play as Harold "Hack" Jenkins, a 70-year-old retired FBI Cyber Division agent. After 35 years of busting cybercriminals, Harold now uses his elite hacking skills to waste scammers' time, infiltrate their computers, and ultimately destroy their entire operations—all from the comfort of his home PC.

Story & Setting

You receive scam phone calls from international criminals trying to steal your money through various schemes (tech support, IRS threats, crypto investments, etc.). But they picked the wrong target. You're Harold Jenkins—a legend in the FBI who's taken down massive fraud rings worth millions. Now retired, you use your time to turn the tables on scammers, one call at a time.

The game features a photorealistic Windows 11 desktop interface where you manage multiple tools, chat with scammers, trace their location, reverse-hack into their systems, and collect evidence to submit to law enforcement.

Core Gameplay Loop

1. Answer the Call

A scammer phones you, pretending to be from Microsoft, the IRS, Social Security, a bank, or a crypto investment firm. You can:

Type custom responses to waste their time

Use quick-reply buttons for classic "confused elderly person" responses

Keep them talking to fill your Trace Meter and Hack Power Meter

2. Play Dumb & Build Power

The longer you keep the scammer on the line, the more your meters fill:

Trace Meter: Tracks the scammer's location via an animated world map

Hack Power Meter: Builds your ability to reverse-hack their PC

Rage Meter: Shows the scammer's frustration level (they get VERY angry if you play dumb too long)

3. Allow PC Connection

Scammers will ask you to let them "connect" to your PC via TeamViewer or remote access. When you click "Allow PC Access", they think they're in—but it's a trap. They see a fake Windows 11 desktop while your Hack Power builds faster.

4. Reverse Hack

Once your Hack Power reaches 100%, hit "REVERSE HACK" to break into the scammer's actual computer. You now have full access to:

Their file system (victim lists, money logs, scam scripts, team chat, browser history)

Hack tools (deploy ransomware, lock their screen, nuke all files)

Real evidence you can download and submit to authorities

5. Bust the Operation

After collecting enough evidence and completing the trace, you can trigger the "OPERATION BUST" to:

Lock down their entire system

Delete all scam files

Send evidence to the FBI

Watch Harold destroy their operation in a cinematic ending
