My epic game development journey

Sharing my game development journey has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I didn’t start out as an expert or someone with a strong background in coding. Like many beginners, I was simply curious about how games were made and wanted to try creating something of my own. At the beginning, everything felt overwhelming.. from learning programming basics to understanding game engines and design principles. I started small, focusing on simple projects and gradually building my self confidence. Along the way, I explored tools like Unity and beginner-friendly languages, watching tutorials and reading guides to improve my skills. There were many moments of frustration, especially when things didn’t work as expected, but those challenges taught me patience and problem-solving. One of the most important lessons I learned early on was to stay consistent. Even if I could only practice for a short time each day, that steady effort helped me grow over time. Sharing my progress online also played a huge role in my journey. It not only kept me accountable but also allowed me to connect with others who were on similar paths. Seeing feedback, suggestions, and encouragement from people helped me stay motivated and improve faster. I realized that game development is not just about coding; it involves creativity, storytelling, design, thesis writing, and user experience. Each small project I completed felt like a big achievement, and over time, those small wins built a strong foundation.

As I continued sharing my game development journey, I began to understand the importance of learning from both successes and failures. Not every idea turned into a great game, and that’s perfectly okay. Some of my projects didn’t go as planned, but they still taught me valuable lessons that improved my future work. I also started paying more attention to how players interact with my games, which helped me make better design decisions. Keeping things simple became one of my core principles, especially as a beginner trying to avoid burnout. Instead of chasing perfection, I focused on progress and learning something new with each project. Over time, I noticed how much I had improved compared to when I first started. Sharing my journey also opened doors to new opportunities, such as collaborating with other developers and learning from more experienced creators. If you’re thinking about starting your own game development journey, my advice is to begin with what you have and not wait for the perfect moment. Learn the basics, build small projects, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Most importantly, share your progress, because it helps you stay motivated and allows others to learn from your experience. Game development is a long journey, but with consistency, patience, and a willingness to learn, it becomes an enjoyable and fulfilling path.
